Cines Golem, recognized for its dedication to auteur cinema, needed a redesign of its website and the development of a new platform for its streaming service, Golem Twoo. The challenge was to create a digital experience that not only facilitated access to its content but also embodied the brand’s distinctive values: exclusivity, innovation, and sophistication.
Revitalizing cinematic tradition
The new identity needed to convey Golem’s core values, combining timelessness with a design that resonated with current trends. The goal was to create an aesthetic proposal that would stand out today and remain relevant in the future.
The target audience of Golem cinemas consists of cinephiles passionate about auteur, independent, and foreign films. It includes both young adults interested in contemporary artistic proposals and older adults who appreciate classic and documentary cinema. This diversity required an approach that would connect with the sensitivities of a discerning audience with a deep appreciation for film.
Benchmarks and visual approach
To establish a clear direction, I conducted an in-depth analysis of cinema websites, production companies, and streaming platforms. This included a benchmark focused on identifying how other brands balanced functionality and visuals to highlight their content.
Building on Golem's core pillars and respecting their logo, I designed an interface structured with a grid, using dark backgrounds that provide elegance and highlight the visual content. This approach places images and text at the center of the experience, creating clear and intuitive navigation that allows users to immerse themselves in the cinematic content.
The result is an immersive visual experience that reflects the sophistication of Golem cinemas while offering modern, seamless usability. This design seeks to capture the essence of auteur cinema while ensuring an enjoyable and memorable interaction for users.
Design unification: web and streaming
The design needed to be consistent across both the website and the Golem Twoo streaming platform, while being tailored to the specific needs of each. For the website, I used a clear modular structure that facilitates the exploration of the movie listings and new releases. In Golem Twoo, the touch navigation flows intuitively, allowing users to easily discover content.
The use of images and well-organized sections in both cases keeps the user focused on what matters most: the audiovisual content.
The result
The result was a website, along with its responsive mobile version, designed to simplify access to information, streamline ticket purchasing, and strengthen the connection with users. Every detail, from the structure to the images and typography, was carefully crafted to provide an intuitive and immersive experience.
This redesign, along with the creation of Golem Twoo, led to a unified digital ecosystem that reflects the essence of cinema. Both platforms combine visual harmony and fluid interaction, creating a space that enhances navigation and amplifies the discovery of cinematic content.
Learnings and conclusions
From the outset, my goal was to reflect the company's values in an intuitive, easy-to-navigate website that, visually, evoked the feeling of being inside the cinema. One of the biggest challenges was implementing the dark mode, ensuring a balanced and pleasant interface that maintained user immersion.
